It is located in the historic centre of Coimbra, on a hill facing the River Mondego. It was a 19th century building that was restored at the end of 2013, keeping the main façade the same as it was in the 19th century and the interior of modern architecture, playing with colours and comfort.

The City of Coimbra

The city of Coimbra is very interesting because of its history, namely the University which is one of the oldest in Europe and the world, the very old Cathedrals (Old and New) from the 15th and 17th centuries, the Joanina Library which is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

The River Mondego divides the city into two parts. There are many restaurants, cafés, pastry shops, supermarkets and endless shops. Events, Coimbra Fado Houses, Casa da Cultura. From May onwards, there are shows almost every day in various parts of the city, all very close to the Casas da Alegria.
